As posted on our Facebook:
I returned from a convention/art show in Indiana with a lot of my stuff sold! I felt so accomplished.
This brings me to the focus of the shop, which we’ve been working on. We wish for the shop to carry my art, as that it’s main purpose, and have a place for the #indiemusic #filk and books I sell from my other online shop (www.woksprint.com). But all of that doesn’t fill our halls, so we’ve been working on a thing that makes the other half happy: #larping and #reenactment. And because I’m native american, I want some #nativeamerican things.
This doesn’t mean we want to conflict with one of our neighbors, who is a spiritual shop. Fortunately when we first arrived and spoke with our neighbor, we were assured that the only thing we were going to have in common was the runes. I make runes because I like to. Our neighbor gets runes because they like to sell them. I don’t make a lot of runes unless I get requests. I do take requests.
When we’ve looked around their shop, we haven’t really seen a lot of Norse material. Thank goodness! I’ve found some sources for some really excellent items like natural-made #beardcare, #tshirts, and of course the things you need for larping like rubber #potionbottles. We just have to get these things into the shop. We already have a couple of great helmets that have seen battle, some cool leather pouches, #powderhorns, and I’m learning how to make drinking horns because drinking horns are cool.
On the native american side, adding items would be slow. Dream catcher making, for example because it is what most people think of first, is actually not something you just throw down. Some tribes have rituals to them; they’re spiritual and special. I don’t make dream catchers. I once asked to be taught and it never happened. Maybe someday in the far future, but my own skills are more to beadwork, clay crafting, and fundamental things that often produce items a reenactor may appreciate. I also have a lead on some moccasins that are made in the style of my people, as they would be coming out of Canada.
So with the flea market’s permission, we’re going to be trying to shape the shop up into something you’ll want to come to especially if you are a reenacting heathen or just wanna stare at a glass drinking horn.
Hit us up with your thoughts!
